People-Reading Challenge

Learning Objective

To provide Everything DiSC facilitators with advanced practice in “people-reading” (identifying DiSC styles) using unscripted video examples to enhance real-world application skills.

Target Audience

Professional adults seeking Everything DiSC Certification credentials and have completed foundational training.

Project Context

A key practice module within an advanced certification course, designed to mimic the difficulty of real-life style identification.

What I did

• I designed the entire three-step interaction flow (Slider input → Resulting quadrant selection).
• Selected the video clips.
• Wrote specific feedback for correct and incorrect answers based on the known DiSC styles.
• Developed the complex custom slider interaction (Steps 1 & 2) and used advanced variables to track learner input and display it on the final map selection screen (Step 3).

Design Rationale & Reflection

I chose a custom slider interaction for Steps 1 and 2 to achieve a specific design goal: nuance. For this advanced activity, a simple radio button choice (Fast-paced OR Cautious) would not reflect the blended nature of the styles (e.g., iS vs. Si). The slider allows learners to express different levels of a dimension. I reduce cognitive load by displaying their answers to Steps 1 & 2 in Step 3. The hidden expert navigation (clicking to jump on the slider) was added as an accessibility and convenience feature for experienced users.
